Mama Moment: Laundry Learnings

Mama Moment: Laundry Learnings
“Gloving” Samantha’s Socks.
Makes a lot of sense?
Nope, Didn’t think so…
I don’t ever use bleach.
If I am being quite honest, I really don’t know how to properly use bleach.
Instead of calling my mom
(which would have been a lot smarter of a proposition)
I decided to use common sense.
Which means, I used “sense” which is common to me.
Which doesn’t make sense.

I love wearing white.
I love putting Samantha in white clothes.
I just always “oxi-clean” things, and they usually ship-shape back into life.
Her socks on the other hand stay consistently dirty looking even when there clean.
Someone recommended using bleach, and I though hmm…lets pour some bleach in a bucket, drop her socks in and let it “soak”.
After a day of not seeing the dirt be removed from her socks, I just kept thinking soaking was the solution.
And then I kind of forgot about the bucket.

Long (Goodmama-ized) story short, I learned a valuable lesson this week.
Things are not supposed to “soak” in bleach long term.

Upon removing the socks from the bleach, they were so thin and thread-barren they barely stayed together.
Oh, and the dirt? Yah, that kind of “fell” off in the process.
Some day I might be more domestic…
Until then, I always have good stories to share.
xoxo

A Cleansing Start.

January 4, 2012 - Leave a Comment

A Cleansing Start.
Notice the Lack of Bow & Lack of Outfit Coordination.
Clearly I was Cleaning.

Welcome January.

Welcome:
 “Winter Cleaning”
“Garage Organization”
&
“Attic Re-Order”
Goodbye:
Christmas Lights, Christmas Decorations, & Christmas Everything.

Its my version of a “juice” cleanse.
I think I would die if I did one of those.
But, thats a whole other topic anyway.

Its been a busy past 48 hours.
Since our eyes awoke 5:30 a.m. to the start of a new year, the three of us have been
going, going, going.
Something in both hubs & I felt a burning desire to organize, clean, throw away, & give away.
We decided Sunday would be the day, which rolled into Monday, as it always does, because as my dad always has said, “things always take longer than expected”.
Especially in the world of cleaning.
Honestly, if hubs was still home today, we would have enough projects to keep us busy for another day!
But, since he is back at work, I am back to the “normal” everyday assignments aside from taking care of child… cleaning house, laundry, cooking meals, meal planning, and the special item on the calendar this week…
PACKING!
So excited to pack our bags, for the slopes!
We head to Deer Valley, Utah, this Saturday for a week.
And since I am such a snow bunny, I clearly, have such a perfect idea of what to pack.
We are a bit confused around here.
And by “we” I should really say me.
Hubbs “thinks” he knows exactly what to pack for the snow. Because he grew up going yearly, he thinks he right. And even though we haven’t been back in seven years to Deer Valley, (maybe the fashion back then was to wear the same thing seven days in a row?!)
He isn’t budging on his opinion.
(No surprise here).

But, boyfriend thinks he can wear the same outfit every day in the snow, so I don’t know what type of crisis were having over here then.
Does he think I will do laundry for him everyday?
Does he think its fashionable to wear the same outfit everyday?
The answer to both these questions is obviously no.
Side note, he did wear the same suit for 24 hours straight once, when we did a day trip (yes your reading this correctly) from the OC to the NYC back when we were newlyweds.
Once again, I could tell you a long story about that trip. It really is a good one.
But, I digress.
“Uh oh”.
Is all I can say in terms of “snow hubby’s” fachionista self.
Such is the case also, for my little Samantha, who got extremely irritated with me yesterday as I attempted to “try” on snow clothes on an eighty degree January day in the OC.

The most fun she had was “off-roading” her car into our grass & napping with Bitty the Baby.

Dizzy Driving?

Napping With Bitty the Baby.
All she wanted to do was play in the sun and the front yard with friends, and I was shoving her into parka’s and making her feel like a pancake.

So far, the “piles” have begun in the guest room.
All I need to do is add snow to the room and we would have ourselves a little bunny slope.

Especially if we added this little character to it…

Out.Of.Control.

She was having more fun then I let on.
For about a minute.
At least she looked darling prepping.

xoxo
