San Clemente Shores & Fisherman’s Resturant {31}

November 7, 2012 - Leave a Comment

San Clemente Shores & Fisherman’s Resturant {31}
San Clemente at Sunset.
31 Days of OC Favs.
Woot! Woot! Were here!
Day 31.

I had to save the best for last.
My favorite.
The shores I spent {and still do!} dreaming & dancing in the waves.
San Clemente.
The beach of my childhood.

I long to run these sandy paths, play in these white-washed waves, and swing Samantha along the Sweet Seaside.
It’s my home away from home.

Its her home away from home too.
When I woke up this Monday morning, I knew I had to go visit before I wrote.
I just had to feel the ocean in my bones.
The salt water hit my face, the sand in my toes, and the cold, freezing water on my legs.

I looked at Samantha and said, “What should we do this morning?”
Her response: “Beach mama!”.

Planning on a run, and realizing we had a flat tire on the stroller once we arrived quickly turned
“Plan a” to” Plan b”.
 I remembered that a little store across the street sold sand toys, so I bought ten dollars worth of her Digging Heart’s Desires.

She spent almost two hours chasing the baby birdies, “jumping like a bunny” down the sand hills, making “strawberry pies” and “drip castles”.
Mama participated, but really I was just found myself in awe of the Glory of God.
The Vastness of the Open Ocean, the Crashing of the Waves, they all just point Heavenward.

Who else gets to frolic in the sand in November.
Us in OC are just so darn lucky!
Not a Bad “view” from my “office” this past Monday Morning!

Our families favorite is Fisherman’s.
{Right on the base of the Pier!}

Ending a day at Fisherman’s and dining above the waves & surfers and watching the sun roll into the water is a piece of pure heaven.
Voted Best Seafood in San Clemente, and in my opinion, the best view in San Clemente too.
With a gigantic menu packed with clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, salmon, fish tacos, and the yummiest sourdough bread, you can’t help but fall in love with the food.
Oh, and the daily happy hours {$3 plates & Drink Specials} are pretty terrific too!
Delicious Food and a Divine View?!
A Day Spent on the San Clemente Shores?
Yes & Thank You.
What better way to end the day and this series with than a forever favorite,
San Clemente Beach & Fisherman’s Restaurant.

Mac and Madi {20}

October 22, 2012 - Leave a Comment

Mac and Madi {20}
Mac and Madi
Down along the darling “Del Mar” {The Main Street of San Clemente}
sits the cutest little children’s boutique.
With toys, books, bows, unique little outfits, and “party dress’s” {as Samantha calls them} this store makes both this mama & daughter duo soar with shopping love.

Named after the owners two children “Mac & Madi”, the store features pictures of her kids, other adorable littles, and leans itself to whimsical ways.
She loves helping us mama’s shop for special occasions, gifts, and everyday favorites.
I adore this little room which features larger than life bows, tu-tu’s, and tops. Its full of “full skirts”, “statement pieces” and truly over-the-top outfits.
Picture Perfect!
{That’s what having a girl is all about!}
Samantha has “grown” to love Mac & Madi’s too.
Now that she has discovered the train tracks in the book room, she never wants to leave!
I park her in there, and browse shop away!
She loves playing, reading a new book, and of course, picking out a new PINK bow!
{Such a “Girly-Girl!”}
Mac & Madi’s is my “go-to” for something special for Samantha.
It’s seems to always have that item which is unique from the all around “typical’s”
And if your looking for birthday present for a little that is going to impress,
Mac & Madi’s is pure gift-giving-mama-magic!

PS-Where have I been the past two days?!
I got food poising on Friday night {EWWW!} and haven’t been myself this weekend!
 I am on the road to recovery, and my brain is just now starting to click-click-click back to life.

PPS- Don’t you OC-Favorite-Lovers fret… There will still be “31” featured days in this series…
We will just be rolling into November!

PPPS- Where is my “sick-note” from my mom when I need it?!
{Remember those…They Rocked!}

Chasing Rainbows {19}

October 20, 2012 - Leave a Comment

Chasing Rainbows {19}
Rainbow Sandals.
A True Orange County Favorite!

My hubby {in his heart of hearts} believes that Rainbows are expectable to wear everywhere.
Rain or Shine, Rainbows.
{This makes for some soggy shoes if you ask me!}

The picture above is actually a great representation of what his Rainbows began to look like after a year of wear and tear.
Good thing we live near the factory!
Yesterday, Samantha and I decided to make a trip down to the “factory”.
Located in San Clemente off Hermosa, the outlet is close to the freeway.
Going into the store was a blast from my past.
How can I forget buying my first pair rainbows in junior high?!
I’m pretty sure they only made the simple brown and thick strapped sandal back in the day…
Boy have they come a long way!

From Colors to Crystals, Your Choices are Endless.
Two thing’s I struggled with in deciding on purchasing a new pair:
1. Tan vs. Brown
2. Small Heel vs. Flat Support
I left empty handed as indecision won out.
I am still debating.
Samantha located the kid section, and then located these larger than life sandals.
“Mama, look…BIG!”.
We tried to find Samantha a pair, but they only make her size {7-8} without a strap in the back.
After some debate, I decided that it was premature to get my-mini strapless shoes.
{That could make for some messy walking!}
They do have sizes 4 {and under} with straps on back, and the sales guy filled me in that their in production for Sammy Sizes with straps.
Good Stuff!
The score of the day was these USC Rainbows for $15.
{They had other school’s too…but come on, FIGHT ON!}
I picked up two pairs.
One for my dad and one for my brother for Christmas presents.
{OMG…Must start Christmas Shopping!}
Such a Score!
We spent the afternoon in San Clemente Chasing Rainbows…
No leprechaun, but there was a Pot of Sandal {Cardinal} & GOLD!

Stand Up Paddle {7}

Stand Up Paddle  {7}

Sunday Funday.

We decided to play “hooky” from church this morning.
We just needed a family day… A day to re-group, relax, and go with the flow.
Of course, going with the flow always leads me down to the shores.
And, when hubby agreed to go to the sandy shores of San Clemente, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
What we didn’t plan for when we arrived at 9 a.m. was the ocean festival that was happening.
The parking lot was packed, and the people were everywhere.
Luckily, dear J Good was still willing to brave the plan.
Phew!
We finally found a spot, dragged all our gear (chairs, towels, sand-toys, and bux-drinks) to the sea-side.
It was packed, packed, packed.
I looked over to the left of Samantha’s swings {what else would I call them?!} and saw a ton of paddleboards and people hovering.
I thought…OMG…Are they renting them?!
I ran on over to find out that life had just gotten even better…They were loaning them out for FREE!
WHAT??!!
Talk about a Sunday-Funday.

I met Jaime {love her!}, and she set me up with a {beautiful} board and a paddle.
I felt kinda bad, because it looked so new!
Last minute before leaving home this morning, I made a quick decision to bring my wet-suit in with me in the “off-chance” that I would go for a “quick-ocean-swim”…
Who would have really known how good it would get?!

I ran to to get changed into the wet-suit that I literally have not worn since I was in junior-lifeguards {also down in San Clemente} from my junior high days.

I prayed it still fit…
And PHEW (AGAIN)! It did!
I jumped on the board, paddled on out, and had a ball of a time.

The water was flagged “yellow” basically meaning, harder than “green” {like that math?!} and the current definitly drifted me farther than I would have liked.
The waves were breaking super far out, so to “stand” on the paddle board, I was further out than I normally would have been.
It was so much fun.
Falling.
And getting truly thrashed.
I had a ball.
And cannot wait to get back in the water.

“Sup Co” {Stand Up Paddle Board CO} or supcompany.com is based in Laguna Beach, and its warehouse is centered in San Juan Capistrano.
On November 3rd they open their San Clemente diggs off Los Molinos.

Interested in getting wet?
Hanging in the gorgeous water that is in our backyard?
Or finally trying out stand-up-paddleboarding?

These are the people to try it with!
Board Rentals, Private lessons, or Group Lessons.
Whatever floats your Board!

Wahoooooooooooo’s! {6}

Wahoooooooooooo’s! {6}

Saturday…
Oh, How I love you Saturday.

Today, I bring you a sweet and steady OC Fav, my beloved Wahoo’s.
I realize I am bringing you food two days in a row.
But, this is not a strange thing for a foodie like me to do such a thing.

Menu.
I love Wahoo’s.
We love Wahoo’s.
I have grown up eating here and never stopped.
I started ordering off the kid’s menu, and really haven’t stopped that either.
A cheese enchilada (red sauce please!) with cajun beans and white rice.
Done and Done.
(Sometimes just fish taco’s).
(Oh, and many times, beer-battered maui-onion rings)….I blame hubbs!

San Clemente Location!
Hubbs used to always think he didn’t like eating here.
He thought they only served fish.
Upon realizing they also served steak, he crossed over to the Bonzi Burrito
(with green sauce!) steak-side.

Its delicious.
Its an easy, go-to, forever favorite OC FAV.

$1.99 Monthly Beer?
Yes, Please!
Happy Saturday to you and yours!

Heavenly Couture {4}

October 5, 2012 - Leave a Comment

Heavenly Couture {4}
There is this little slice of OC shopping heaven in San Clemente called “Heavenly Couture”.
I was having a hard time deciding whether or not I was even going to share this OC Fav because its literally a spot I buy so many of my “secret” finds at.
You know those stores, spots, or restaurants you have.
Its really hard to share. Like you peel your fingers away from your fist and open your hands and give.
That’s this spot for me.
I promise. You will thank me later.

Lets begin with first things first. Everything is always on “sale”.
And secondly, that also means that everything is always 15 dollars or less.
Wait, What?!
Yes, my friends, you just read that correctly!

Heavenly Couture has multiple locations in Orange County, but I always seem to find myself in this one….Could be because its right next to another fav…The shores of San Clemente!

And not to add that bringing Gram along to entertain Sam is icing on the heavenly cake!
๐Ÿ™‚
This past week the store was bursting with the colors of fall.
Mustard, brown, tan and of course coloring blocking bright orange.

The store is pretty small and very, very clean.
Its easy (semi-easy with a toddler) to go from rack to rack and quickly grab and go.
They also have a fifteen day exchange/store-credit option which makes it nice with littles.
They get their shipments in on Wednesday’s (yes, I asked!) and I am praying that they stock more jersey skirts soon!

I feel in love with this shirt.
They only had one in my size and it was on their mannequin.
I about cried into my iced tea.
They took down my name & number and will be calling me once they do their mannequin clothing change in the next couple weeks…
Love it! It has my name all over it!
Another excuse to head back down to the beach, and Heavenly Couture?
Yes, Please!

San Clemente Style

San Clemente Style
Sand Toys Packed.

Yesterday Samantha & I packed up and headed south.

Not south of the border, though that does sound nice…
Margaritas anyone?!

(via)

We went to the lovely land of San Clemente.

Love this beach for ten thousand reasons, but most of all because its the beach of my childhood.
And, I want it to be the beach of Samantha’s as well.
We rolled down the windows, listened to Jack Johnson, and danced like crazy people.
(The antibiotics had started to kick in-and girlfriend was feeling better!)
The whole way down, I told her that we were going to go visit the “water”.
After I spoke that word, all I kept hearing from my backseat driver was:
“wa-wa”, “wa-wa”, “Mama, WA-WA!!!!!!!!!”
You can imagine her absolute delight when she saw the giant pool in front of her eyes.
Screams, and running ensued.

Swinging.

Five cha-cha trains passed during our visit.
Swings were swung on.
Waves were ran in.
Rocks were thrown into the sea.
Sand-castles were attempted to be made.
Buckets of water were filled and dumped along the sandy shore.
And we spent at least a half hour playing in the shower near the pier.

Our Spot In the Sand.
By the time we hit the car, she was asking for “more-more-more”, but Mama could tell she was getting tired and that she was completely tuckered out, so promises were made for a visit back very soon.
I got her dressed (swim diaper style), put her in her car seat with snacks and water and we were on our way back home.
It was a delight to see her so over the moon happy.
I was laughing at myself the whole way home, because in typical ME fashion I remembered ALL things for our little beach visit except for one thing. You know it, A diaper.

Genius.
Hubbs will tell you, that I am famous for forgetting diapers.
I mean, really, wherever we GO, I always forget them.
I can remember snacks, water, diaper bag, toys, i-pad, headphones, change of clothes, socks, shoes, and most importantly, my daughter, BUT when it comes to that darn diaper….not happening.
Its hilarious.
But not so funny when its really needed.
(I usually think its funny, but hubs never does).
I always just think, “I will wrap her in a towel and drive home, she will be just fine!”
This has never happened.

Of course, ironically, I brought her down to the sand in a normal diaper and we drove home in a swim diaper.
Go Figure.

xoxo
