Meal Plan Monday:
Oh Wait, its Tuesday!
Definition: Meal Plan Monday-the idea behind the concept to inspire myself and others to return/continue to enjoy our pretty kitchens. To make them dirty. To try new things. To plan ahead-so that our families enjoy home cooked meals-at the dinner table. To love the JOY behind the art of cooking.
Or burn the book in the process.
*Oh wait,that’s a whole different story, and definition.
My intention behind the “phrase” & the “plan” was to start this Monday (umm….yeah…) to update the blog once a week (On Monday’s) with the “meal plan” for what I am cooking each night for the week. Part of this is a selfish reason-to force myself on Sunday’s to sit down, think out, write down, & PLAN (what a concept) the Goodmama Gang’s meals for the week. I am usually pretty good at sticking to this, and I really do enjoy mapping out the week in meal form. It makes grocery shopping so much easier & keeps my sanity in tack a bit more. The other reason behind this weekly goal to blog- is another selfish one. Hopefully-that by sharing what I am cooking for the week-you in turn will share with me your delicious ideas as well. 🙂
My mama almost always had freshly made meals each night throughout the week growing up. AND she still does! (Lucky dad!) She inspired me in the kitchen, through her passion for cooking, healthy eating, and down-right delicious cuisine. She is incredible at whipping up a meal in record time-and seriously makes cooking super simple. Hopefully one day in the future she will be teaching other’s in the kitchen as I believe she can truly do- with such simplicity, grace, & laughter. (Ehhem…Mama….we have some business discussions that need to take place ASAP!)…
She makes cooking a blast! For those of you who have entered Tina’s Cantina-I truly believe one of her greatest abilities is cooking. (Hopefully, g-mama-you will share some of your meal plans too :)…
The goal behind “Meal Plan Monday” is to list out each night’s rough plan-in advance and see where it leads. I am NOT a detail gal-so that means-I will not be typing up each recipe & ingredient. Lord knows, I would tell you a CUP of something when you really needed to add a QUART or a GALLON. I would probably confuse more than help!
And at the beginning of each new Monday-I’ll update you on last week’s meals. What worked, what didn’t, what new recipe just has to be shared. Maybe it will involve pictures, maybe it won’t…maybe once in awhile I will include specific recipies or even invite you over to share in the meal. As long as your okay with a baby possibly having a melt-down at the “witching-hour” which is also known as the “dinner hour”. Go figure. Needless to say, the cooking and eating will probably involve Samantha
in all her sweetness and mama with a large glass of vino in her hand :_)
Here’s the Plan for this Week:
Monday: Chicken with Sun Dried Tomatoes & Vodka, Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Steamed Broccoli
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday at Local Mex Restaurant (this makes hubby very happy-and at the local prices-its about the same as cooking in…)
Wednesday: Romaine Caesar Salad, Mango Chicken Sausages (for hubby), Lemon & Rosemary Salmon (for me), Brown Rice & Steamed Carrots…
*(Whenever I want Salmon-I have to purchase another “protein” for hubby. He has been on a salmon strike for about 7 months now….its annoying…but slightly entertaining…)
Thursday: Greek Salad, Feta Stuffed Chicken Breasts & Mediterranean Pasta
Friday: My Mama’s Bday-Out to Celebrate!
Saturday: Probably Out-J hates eating in on Saturday Nights… 🙂
Sunday: TBD 🙂
